Chinese Cupping
Do you have a frozen shoulder, tension in your neck and shoulders, or general muscle issues?
Then Chinese cupping might be the solution. This ancient and effective method is ideal for releasing muscle tension and improving blood circulation while helping to eliminate accumulated toxins from the body. I often combine cupping with acupuncture to enhance the effect even further.
Cupping works by creating a vacuum in small glass cups, which are placed on the skin over acupuncture points. The vacuum stimulates these points and increases blood and lymph flow, helping to remove stagnation in the connective tissue. This technique has deep historical roots and has been practiced across much of Asia since 1000 B.C.
The treatment works like a deep tissue massage, intensively releasing tension, reducing blood stasis, and stimulating the body’s energy—Qi, the life force.
I use cupping for a variety of issues, including muscle tension and respiratory conditions such as colds, pneumonia, and bronchitis. The treatment can be applied to the whole body but is particularly effective on the back, neck, and shoulders.
After a cupping session, you will typically feel wonderfully relaxed and light in your body—similar to the sensation after a deep massage. Cupping is a gentle yet powerful method for promoting balance and well-being.
