What happens at an appointment

At Shenmen Acupuncture you get many treatments in one treatment.

When you come to your first appointment, I will do a full diagnostic consultation asking questions about your medical history including all aspects of your health and wellbeing.
I will also look at your tongue and feel your pulses on both wrists.

Through my knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine I have a holistic approach to the treatment. I will take all the signs and manifestations of your condition so I can make the right treatment for you. It is of utmost importance that you give me all the information that I need to make the diagnosis as precise as possible.

This comprehensive diagnostic consultation allows me to create a bespoke treatment plan including lifestyle and dietary advice as well as acupuncture.

In the treatment I use acupuncture, Tui Na massage, Gua Sha and cupping. Acupuncture is done with thin sterile needles, you will feel a tingling when the needle goes through the skin.

After the treatment you may feel tired, so it is important not to exercise on the day of treatment and take it easy the rest of the day. You may experience a increase of pain, but this only shows I have touched the problem. This should wear off after no more than 24 hours..

It is important to drink plenty of water, preferably two liters every day to get the most out of your treatment.
